Welcome to My Practice
I started my practice in 2022 with the mission to provide my patients with the type of excellent medical care that I would want my own family members to receive. I am dedicated to the individual course of each patient - deeply understanding their history, considering all potential treatment options, and constantly asking if there is anything more we could be doing to improve functioning in or enjoyment of life.

About Dr. Matskevich
Dr. Ashley Matskevich is a board-certified psychiatrist and a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where she teaches psychopharmacology and supervises resident physicians. She completed her residency at the Harvard Longwood program — training across Brigham and Women's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Massachusetts Mental Health Center, and Boston Children's Hospital — and served as chief resident of the inpatient psychiatry unit, earning the Henry G. Altman Award for Excellence in Medical Education. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Matskevich provides both psychotherapy and medication management, treating the whole person, with emphasis on truly individualized and compassionate care. She has a particular interest in women's mental health across the reproductive life cycle and in the role of exercise and nutrition in mental health. She sees adults and young adults in person in Brookline and via telehealth across Massachusetts and New York.
What Sets the Practice Apart
Trained and rooted in Boston
Having trained across Brigham and Women's, Beth Israel Deaconess, and Massachusetts Mental Health Center — and worked in practices from Back Bay to Brookline — she has spent her entire career building relationships across the Boston area.
Thorough diagnosis before any plan
Careful assessment is increasingly rare in community practice. She takes time to understand the full picture — & reassess the diagnoses you arrive with — before deciding on a treatment plan
Therapy and medication, from one physician
She provides both herself, so nothing gets lost in a handoff — and adapts her approach to each person. Every medication has to justify itself. She is as committed to starting a medication only when it is right, as she is to safely tapering a medication when it is no longer serving you.
Care for the whole person
With a Massachusetts General Hospital certification in nutrition and mental health, she incorporates movement, sleep, and lifestyle recommendations into her holistic treatment approach.

The first appointment is 75 minutes — time for Dr. Matskevich to get a bird's-eye view of the patient's life and understand how their current concerns fit into their broader history. After discussing the patient's treatment goals, they arrive together at a working diagnosis and plan, which may include medication (sometimes prescribed at the first visit, sometimes not), a therapy plan, and sleep, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations. Drawing on a CBT framework, she also builds practical steps into care.
